Cause and Effect Ishikawa Fishbone Diagram Excel Template available from the Business Tools Store

 

A Cause and Effect diagram, aka a fishbone diagram, Ishikawa diagram and herringbone diagram template for Excel is now available for the Business Tools Store.

The tool is typically used to graphically illustrate the relationship between a given outcome and all the factors that influence the outcome of Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

It helps to identify, sort and display possible causes of a specific problem or quality characteristic.

In classifying the causes resulting from the RCA they can typically be grouped into categories, such as materials skills, process, etc.

Different category classifications have emerged depending on the industry sector being analyzed.

This has given rise to three popular Cause and Effect Fishbone diagrams based on the root cause categories.

The Excel workbook includes three different templates that address the needs of:

(a) the manufacturing sector (a 6Ms template),

(b) marketing environments (a 7 Ps template) and

(c) the services industry (a 5 Ss template).

The template requires Excel 2007 or a more recent Excel version, uses only standard Excel features, has no macros and is fully customizable.
